Every Monday afternoon a small group of homeless men and women gather at The Lakeside Men’s Shelter in Cleveland, Ohio. They are not there to complain or comment on their own series of life’s unfortunate events. Nor are they there simply for a hot meal. They are there to share the power of words. The words of Stephen King, Louis L’Amour, James Baldwin and Malcolm X. This eclectic group of people are all part of a homeless book club created by an employee of Care Alliance, a health care provider for the homeless.
The Cleveland Project will take a deeply emotional look at the book club, its members and Donna Kelly, the homeless health care worker who started in all. In addition, we will explore the lives of each member of the club, their life’s journey that got them to this point and how the books they read can sometimes parallel their own lives.
The Cleveland Project will be an emotional, informative journey that will truly inspire everyone who views it.
